Bhubaneswar is the capital of the state of Odisha and is known for the many temples that you will find here. This city has a great historical and cultural significance and therefore has been a hot bed for tourist both domestic and international.
The city gets its name from Tribhubaneswar which basically means the lord of the 3 worlds. Often referred to as the temple city of India, Bhubaneswar houses the most temples in the state probably after Puri. It also had the privilege of being one of the modern cities of India and joined the ranks of Chandigarh and Jamshedpur. Bhubaneswar had its first tryst with India when the war of Kalinga took place where King Asoka was victorious. It also became an independent province during the British rule which was celebrated all throughout the city as Utkal Divas.
